Our Rooms

Our setting has 3 rooms:

First Steps for babies aged 6 weeks to 2 years old.

Caterpillar Room for children aged 2-3 years old.

Pre-school for children aged 3-4 years old.

First Steps

Our First Steps room has a warm and cosy feel to help your little ones feel more at home. The practitioners in here really focus on nurturing those special relationships to ensure that your child feels safe and secure in our care. There is a designated sleep area to allow a sleep whenever the child needs. Outside, there is a separate garden space so the babies feel safe and free to explore. All of the children receive a healthy snack in the morning and the afternoon and a warm, freshly cooked meal at lunchtime from our 5-week rolling menu. For children who stay past 4 o'clock there is a light tea provided. As soon as your child turns 2, they will move through to the Caterpillar Room. However, there will be a gentle transition and chance to form new relationships before the big day.

Caterpillar Room

Our Caterpillar Room provides many opportunities for children to explore and access a wide variety of resources. We start to see children developing role play skills and we endeavour to provide an environment that reflects the real world. The Caterpillar Room children have access to our outdoor area which is shared with Pre-school. Here you will find a playhouse, climbing equipment, a road for sit and ride toys and much more! Snack and meal times work just as they do in the First Steps room using our 5-week rolling menu. After lunch, there is the opportunity for a nap or some quiet time. Your child will be able to move through to Pre-school in the term after they turn 3 years old. They will go for transition visits, often with peers of a similar age before moving through.

Pre-school

Our Pre-school room advocates independence and helps children to develop the skills they need to take the next steps of their life. Within the room you will find a small world area, construction area, home corner, sand/water and messy play, mark making area and more. Children who attend the 6 hour session will receive a healthy morning snack but will need to bring a packed lunch. If your child is accessing the morning half day session, it will finish at 11:45am. If your child comes in for the afternoon session, they will need to bring their packed lunch. We also offer wrap around care from 8am in the morning to 5:30pm in the evening and some children who access this are entitled to a hot dinner. Pre-school have access to our outdoor area and are encouraged to explore skills such as trial and error and risk assessment when playing outdoors. Our practitioners will provide support for the school application process and will support your child for the upcoming transition. Also, we welcome teachers and teaching assistants into the setting during the last term.
